Partial Hospitalization & Intensive Outpatient

Located in the San Gabriel Valley in Greater Los Angeles, adjacent to our inpatient hospitalization program, the adolescent outpatient eating disorder programs at BHC Alhambra Hospital are focused on integrating what has been learned in treatment into everyday life, and providing additional support for those who are continuing to struggle but do not require 24 hour care. Patients and their families are still provided the support and structure needed to help contain their disordered eating behaviors, but have more opportunities to practice their newly gained skills and face the real challenges that arise in daily living.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

The Partial Hospitalization Program is an intensive, structured 8-hour, 6-day a week treatment program that patients attend from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Saturday. It is designed to ensure continued success in recovery from the eating disorder with a focus on the adolescent’s emotional and nutritional goals while attending therapeutic and educational groups that address the particular challenges of implementing changes into one’s daily life. This program can be a transition from inpatient to outpatient treatment, or adolescents can enter directly into this program from the outpatient setting while still living at home.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program is a structured, intensive 4-hour 6-day a week program that can act as a transition from the partial hospitalization program, or for those adolescents who need more than outpatient therapy. Adolescents may be able to attend school while attending this program and will receive both meal support and therapeutic and educational groups.
