Measuring Our Success & Impact

Reasons Eating Disorder Center takes patient satisfaction very seriously. We enjoy hearing about the ways we’ve impacted your lives and encouraged you to find your reasons for recovery. To continually improve and optimize our care, our facility and our programs, we ask every patient discharged from our facility to provide feedback on their stay and the care they received. These surveys provide us with a patient-centered perspective of our programming.

Patients rate the care they received on a 1 to 5 scale (1 = strongly disagree; 5 = strongly agree). We are proud of our staff for their hard work and dedication to our patients, as reflected in our satisfaction scores. Below are the overall program satisfaction scores from 2020.

Patient Stories & Testimonials

Past patients often write back to us to share how we’ve given them the tools they need to continue their personal recovery journeys. Some of these letters are thank you notes to the staff, but other times they’re supportive messages to future or current patients who are experiencing similar struggles with disordered eating. We are proud to know that we’ve encouraged individuals to believe in their capability to heal, and we hope you can also find courage in some of these stories.

“I could say, ‘Reasons saved my life, it’s the best program ever,’ but that would be stretching the truth. Reasons didn’t save my life, the program there allowed me to see that I could choose to save my own life — and once I made that choice, they were able to fully support me at every step along the way. I entered the program intending to stay for a few of weeks, calm down my treatment team and get back to school. The shifts in my motivation within the first couple of weeks were drastic and I ended up deciding to stay until the treatment team thought I was ready. In other words I’d decided, after 10+ years of dealing with the eating disorder and more than a few stints of intensive treatment, to finally trust someone other than myself and give this whole ‘recovery’ thing a shot.

The work I did there was far from easy. My 7 week stay was full of tears, anxiety, frustration at the relentlessness of the staff and fear. There are no magic groups at Reasons, no magic therapists. There are, however, many people who are fully invested in helping you on your way to health. If there is a small part of you that may be toying with the idea of recovery, there are people at Reasons who will give you more care and support than you will know what to do with. This was the turning point for me — being able to choose to work on my shit and being willing to accept the help that was thrown at me (whether or not I liked it). I’ve seriously never met such a caring group of professionals.

So, Reasons didn’t save my life, but without the program, I certainly wouldn’t be half alive as I am now. I go through daily (sometimes HOURLY) struggles, but I have insight to get through the hard times with much less turmoil than before treatment and I credit Reasons for equipping me with the tools to do so. One of the last things my therapist said to me before I discharged was, ‘Please go have a life.’ It’s been bumpy, but with regular support and reminding myself of things I learned at the Reasons, I’ve been able to begin rebuilding my life to be what I want it to be.”

“I wanted to take the opportunity to write to you about our experience with your organization as it relates to the treatment received by our daughter.

Our first contact with your organization was with Ashley, who was professional, kind and very thorough with her help. Our daughter was a critical state, and we ended up admitting her to your Reasons Residential Program. Nikki met with us immediately and we knew that our daughter was where she needed to be. Again, the entire staff at the Reasons House from Dr. Norman Kim on down treated us professionally and with the utmost of care and respect during this trying time.

For the next 7 weeks our daughter received therapy treatment like none she had received in the prior 5 years, allowing her to accomplish a lot. Her therapist is amazing, and in her my daughter finally found the ability to trust and open up so that she could explore the underlying issues related to her eating disorder. Our family also received several sessions of top-notch therapy!

We would like to sincerely express our gratitude for the quality care our daughter has received and continues to receive as a participant in your PHP Program. You truly run a world-class program!”
