What to Pack for Treatment

When preparing to head to treatment, it’s hard to determine what you’ll need. Reasons Eating Disorder Centerwants all clients to be comfortable when they’re receiving care, so we’ve outlined what you’ll need during your stay. We do provide some basic items and amenities (listed below), but please review the items below to prepare yourself. Please skip anything too tight or revealing, or items that depict violence, sexually graphic scenes, inappropriate language or substance use. Other prohibited items are outlined below as well. Please note that all items will be inspected upon admission and the items below are subject to change based on the needs of the individual.

  • Bed linens
  • Washer/dryer
  • Telephone
  • Coffee maker
  • Microwave
  • Bibles and Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book

ESSENTIAL PACKING LIST

  • Pharmacy plan information and all medications to which you are currently prescribed. Medication must be stored in properly labeled bottles including name, medication, dosage and frequency.
  • Sunglasses/sunscreens
  • Picture ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Health insurance card
  • Casual, comfortable clothing for one week
  • Shoes (casual and recreational)
  • Sleepwear (modest)
  • Clothes hangers (plastic only)
  • Laundry soap, fabric softener and laundry bag
  • Towel and washcloth
  • Personal care and hygiene items (30-day supply)
  • Paper, pens, pencils, envelopes, stamps
  • Spending money (no more than $150)
  • Quarters for laundry and vending machines

Optional Items:

  • Cigarettes (30-day supply)
  • Photos of friends and family
  • Favorite bedding
  • Bathing suit (modest, summer only)
  • Reading material (Bible, recovery and morally acceptable materials only)

WHAT NOT TO BRING

  • Items containing alcohol (as the first ingredient)
  • Cigars, pipes or chewing tobacco
  • Cards, dice or any games of chance
  • Aerosol sprays
  • Electronic/entertainment equipment (radios, music devices, TVs, video games, cameras, laptops, PDA/Palm Pilot, etc.)
  • Cell phone
  • Excessive jewelry/cash/credit cards
  • Food or beverages, candy or gum
  • Liquid bleach
  • Nail polish and/or remover
  • Clothing that advertises bars, alcohol, drugs, gambling or offensive subjects
  • No sleeveless, spaghetti straps or strapless tops, short shorts or tight clothing
  • Pornographic materials
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Vehicles, bicycles
  • Pets
